A hydra is a multicellular organism with slow, but a long lasting endocrine system. This is due to a long distance for hormones to travel because the hormone is far from the cell trying to be effected. Changes in the environment cause the release of chemical substances that serve as signals for managing food behavior in the endocrine system. Another part of the endocrine system is thyroxine. This hormone helps the hyrda asexually reproduce by budding from itself.
